Now a days steam boilers are very popular which are used to convert water into steam at constant pressure. There are number of fire tube boilers. Some of them are Cochran Boiler, Lancashire Boiler, Locomotive Boiler etc. Here is some information available about Lancashire Boiler.
Lancashire Boiler is a fire tube boiler having internally fired two horizontal fire tubes. Each of the flue tube has a fire grate where flue is fed through fire holes. The water shell is having water and is placed in the brickwork setting the hollow brickwork works as the flue path, which ensures complete combustion of fuel.
Flue gases traverse the flue tubes from front to the back, where it dips down and pass under the boiler shell back to the front. In the front these gases are divided into paths and pass by the sides of the shell and traverse from front to the back and finally escape through the chimney. This path of flue gases enables the utilization of heat available in the flue gases to the maximum extent.
These types of boilers have a normal working pressures up to 15 kg/cm2, and are used for process steam requirement like sugar or textile industries.
All in all Lancashire Boiler is commonly used fire tube boilers. There are also other types of boilers that are Cochran Boiler and Locomotive Boiler which have diffrent functionality and work. Lancashire Boiler is mostly used for process steam requirement. In the textile industries Lancashire Boiler is very much useful.
