Acidic Water Filtration Systems Prevent Copper Pipe Corrosion on Acid Well Water

In thousands of homes on well water, acidic water causes thinning of copper pipes, pinhole leaks, and numerous copper pipe leaks over time. Acidic water filtration systems can easily correct and neutralize a low pH in well water.

The pH scale is a scale from 1 to 14. A neutral pH is 7. A ph of less than 7 is considered acidic. A pH greater than 7 is considered alkaline and is less corrosive to copper pipes than waters with a pH of less than 7.

Signs of acid water are corrosion of fixtures, blue staining (from copper pipes) or rust staining (from iron pipes). Acidic water can also cause pinhole leaks and pipe failure over time. By raising the pH to the range of 7.0 to 7.5 the water can be made alkaline which will then reduce or eliminate pipe corrosion.

In neutralizer filters, the acidic water slowly dissolves the calcium and magnesium media on contact as the water flows through the filter, raising the pH of the water and increasing the alkalinity. This eliminates the effects of corrosive water chemistries and can help to prevent corrosion of piping and fixtures.

The size of the system is directly proportional to the flow rate of the water, in gallons or liters per minute. The higher the flow rate, and the more gallons per minute flows through the pipes, the larger the system required. Generally for most homes with 1 bathroom, a 1 cubic foot size system containing 100 lbs of calcite will work well. For homes with 1 to 2 bathrooms, a 1.5 cubic foot filter is recommended. For higher flow demands and in homes with 3 to 4 bathrooms and larger families, a 2.5 cubic foot neutralizer containing 250 lbs of calcite is recommended.

This type of neutralizer also acts as a filter removing sediment and small amounts of rust from the water, and then backwashing it out once every week or so. The most common type of acid neutralizer filter has an automatic backwash control valve. The frequency and length of the backwash cycle can be easily adjusted on the control valve. Most backwashing acid neutralizer filters are set to backwash once a week for eight to ten minutes. This backwashing cleans the calcite filter media and allows the mineral media to more easily dissolve into the water over time.

Different Purposes for Which Steel Square Tube is Taken under Use

In industries, various kinds of tubes are developed that are hot dipped galvanized tubes, Steel Tubes and pipes, Black Steel Tubes, Aluminized Steel Tubes, Fence Tubes, structural steel, Mild Steel Welded Black Tubes and scaffolding pipes. Such steel tubes are developed as well as exported all over the world by several of the industries. The standards of production which are laid down through the government required to be maintained since this determines the eminence of the steel pipes as well. The sizes and the dimensions of the tubes vary. The diameter and the thickness of each pipe are different. Hence a person has to decide the purpose prior to buying the tube. Several of the shapes of the pipes are round, rectangle, hexagon and square.

Exploring the Utilization of Steel Square Tube

The chief purpose behind using such tube is that it is extremely sturdy. The configuration of such tubes varies as per the requirement. Such aluminized tubes are used in Industrial and automobile exhaust systems, HVAC industry, Muffler and many other such exercises can be seen. In the industrial and the automobile sector different sorts of tubes are utilized. The hot hollow galvanized pipes are also taken under use in these sectors. Hence the galvanized as well as the electro galvanized pipes and tubes that are utilized for engineering and industrial works required to be of high quality  with the intention that it reduces the pollution as well as the other problems to a greater extent.

Quality and affordable stainless steel seamless pipe

Seamless pipes serve a very special purpose. Due to their physical design, not only do they ensure superior strength and support, thanks to the absence of any noticeable joints in the pipe, they also look good as well. This ensures that they find application in a lot of cases where the pipes need to be in open view. There are numerous structural advantages of using a stainless steel seamless pipe as well, all of which have helped ensure a huge demand for them in the Indian market.

What advantages does a seamless pipe offer?

A stainless steel seamless pipe is made by forming a hollow tube of uniform width and circumference. He hollow structure ensures that the pipes can be easily bent to form any required shape and accommodate any structural needs of the client. So when a pipe needs to be laid out in such a manner that it will not be forming a straight line, seamless pipes are preferred over other types of stainless steel pipes.

Since the pipe can simply be bent whenever needed, there are no needs for joints in seamless pipes. An absence of joints makes these pipes several times stronger than welded ones. They can withstand higher pressure and thus find application in scenarios where a regular pipe with joints or weldings would simply break apart.

Another major advantage that seamless pipes offer is the uniformity of their size. You can be certain that any quality stainless steel seamless pipe will have uniform cross section at every point. This is the result of the formation process for these pipes where the molten steel is placed around a circular object and then formed into a hollow tube. Welded pipes, even with the most  advanced welding technologies can never come close to achieving this level of uniformity. When a pipe is needed that can be counted on to fit the design perfectly, seamless pipes are the way to go,

Strength and reliability are the two areas where seamless pipes have left all other kind of steel pipes behind. Despite slightly higher costs, they are extremely reliable and can be counted on to deliver superior performance at all times.

Steel Pipes manufacturing process

Steel pipes are long hollow tubes that are used for a variety of purposes. They are produced by two distinct methods, which result in either a welded or seamless pipe. In both methods, raw steel is first cast into a more workable starting form. It is then made into a pipe, by stretching the steel out into a seamless tube, or forcing the edges together & sealing them with a weld.

Welded pipes could be manufactured by one of the process, know as Electric Resistance Welding (ERW), where in a high frequency current is being used to fuse the steel together, resulting in welding at the seam of the pipe.

Worldwide, ERW pipes are manufactured & distributed, looking at the various applications, various people are into manufacturing of steel pipes & tubes, following various Indian & International standards.

In India many organization, are engaged into manufacturing & exporting of Quality ERW Pipes. They manufactures different types of ERW Pipes namely Black Pipes, Hot Dip Galvanized Pipes, Conduit Pipes, Casing Pipes, Scaffolding Pipes & General Engineering Purpose Pipes.

These companies have huge production capacities, & holds certification of various Indian as well as International standards.

Maintaining the quality of the ERW pipes is of utmost importance too. The product must pass through stringent quality tests, before they are finally supplied. Raw Material shall be tested for Chemical Composition, Tensile Strength, Elongation and Thickness & Tolerance. Pipes shall be hydraulically tested to ensure no leakage in the pipe. Galvanized pipes must be tested for uniformity of the zinc coating.

As the quality is the lifeline of any industry, so at Steel pipes manufacturing companies, Quality is not only checked, but is monitored & produced, with the help of proactive & professional approach.

Comparison between Stainless Steel 310 and stainless steel 202 pipe

Different industrial processes require different kinds of industrial environments and hence the equipment used in them also differs in qualities. We here discuss the two commonly used stainless steel alloys viz. 310 and 202 and the usage of pipes made from them.
The stainless steel alloy 310 offers extreme resistance to oxidation and its scaling. It also has high strength even at higher and elevated temperatures. It is also extremely ductile and various shapes can be made out of it. The stainless steel 310 pipe offers continuous service that can withstand temperatures up-to 1140 degree Celsius. Their service quality decreases in the presence of sulfur gas. It has high amounts of chromium and hence provides for versatile properties of corrosion resistance. It can resist pittance, crevice, and general corrosions with ease and can also resist marine corrosion caused by high chloride content of sea water.
Stainless steel 202 pipe offers adequate corrosion resistance and strength but is more prone to cracking because of its higher carbon content. The stainless steel 200 series alloy has lower nickel content than the 300 series and is hence is less costly. It has a high carbon content that can result in cracking. In other aspects like fabricability, corrosion resistance, etc. they are similar to 300 series. Still 300 series stainless and 310 stainless steel pipes provide more corrosion resistance than their 202 counterparts.
Hence, it can be concluded that the 310 pipes provide for high corrosion resistance while 202 pipes have better strength. They are used in specific industrial climates that have different wants. While the stainless steel 310 pipe can provide for better corrosion resist in marine environments, the 202 pipes have the better strength that is much required in many other industrial processes.

General Knowledge of Seamless Steel Pipe

1.Seamless steel pipe is a long steel with hollow sections and has no joints surrounding the steel bar. It is mainly used as a pipeline to transfer the fluid, such as oil, natural gas, water and some solid materials, etc. As compared to the flexural torsional strength in the same light, it is an economic cross-section steel. The seamless steel pipes are widely used in the manufactures  and mechniacal parts, such as the oil pipe, automotive transmission shaft, bicycles aircraft,as well as buliding construction. With steel pipe manufacturing, annular parts can improve the material utilization, simplify the manufacturing process, save material and machining time. For example, the roller bearing rings and the jack sets and so on have been widely made of steel pipes. Cylindrical rube can delivery more fluid since the circle has the largest areas under the same circumference. In addition, the ring cross-section bears internal or external pressure, the force more evenly, so that vast majority of tubular steel pipes are cylindrical rubes . However, the tube also has some limitations, such as in-plane bending conditions, the pipe on the better side, rectangular tube bending strength, and a number of sets of frames, steel-wood furniture on the commonly used square, rectangular tube.

2.The pressure of seamless steel pipe

Pressure pipelines are generally composed of pieces of standard parts, so the pressure pipe design component is the selection of its standard parts. the pressure level of pipelines is determined to the pressure level of its standard parts.

Pipeline pressure level consists of two parts:

one is nominal pressure rating which is expressed in the nominal pressure of the standard parts. The other is wall thickness rating which is expressed in the wall thickness of the stand parts.

Firetube Boilers and Watertube Boilers

Firetube Boilers: Firetube boilers are also know as shell boilers. These boilers are the most commonly used boilers in the market. In the firetube or shell boilers the water is surrounded by the water. The water which surrounds the shell or firetube is heated by sending the hot gases or fire which is produced by the burner through the shell or firetube. The hot gases or fires are allowed four times through the tubes in the boiler before letting the out of the boilers. These tubes are generally set at the banks of the boilers. The firetube boiler systems can release up to 25,000lbs or 750hp of steam per hour. About 80% of the boilers that are in use today belong to this particular category.

Watertube Boilers: In the Watertube Boilers the tubes are arranged vertically in the shell. Then the water is filled in the shell which is heated by sending the hot fuel or hot gases through the tubes. Generally Watertube boilers are built in rectangular shape with two or three drums. The drums are arranged at the top and bottom, where top drum is used to separate water and steam and the bottom drum is used to collect he sludge. Watertube boilers are usually utilized when more than 750hp of steam per hour is required.

Types Of Plastic Pipes And Their Uses

With the high price of plumbers it is understandable that so many people are now deciding that the do it yourself route is a far more affordable option. Plastic pipe is the perfect material for the job as even the lay man can manage to put together a piping system. Naturally plastic pipe is an umbrella term that covers a number of different plastics, usually of the thermo variety but still disparate enough to note the differences. Here are some of the most popular plastic pipe variants used.

PVC or polyvinyl chloride is an extremely popular plastic in the piping world; it is extremely rigid and is adept at resisting many chemicals. The main form of welding is though solvents and is predominantly used for applications such as sewers, drain pipes and cold water pressurised water piping. It comes in a variety of different colours.

ABS or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene is used for many of the same purposes as PVC although its chemical resistance is lower and it is normally produced with a black colouration.

CPVC or chlorinated polyvinyl chloride is like PVC but stands up to high temperatures more effectively and hence is used for hot and cold water supply applications.

The previous three plastic pipe variants are all rigid whereas PB (polybutylene) and PE (polyethylene) are flexible; the former being rigid and used for the same purposes as CPVC and the latter being low cost. Both of these types are not joined with solvents but are instead formed with mechanical and clamped couplings.

In terms of buying the pipe for your plumbing needs pipes normally come in sizes along two lines, these being pipe sizes and tubing sizes. Pipe sizes relate to the old steel pipes while tube sizes relate to copper tube. It is important to note that different plastic pipes should not be connected together, like for like connections are always advisable. Because the plastic pipe industry moves quickly it is important to recognise that building regulations should always be consulted before undertaking any work.

For instance regulations permit the use of CPVC and PB pipe for hot water applications. These two pipes are perfect for constructing in-home hot water systems as they are corrosion free and durable. It should be remembered however that this form of pipe should not be used for electrical grounding as it is non-conductive. PVC pressure pipes should predominantly be used for cold water movement in outdoor areas; such as water sprinkling systems in gardens. PE pipe is similar although it is flexible rather than rigid, and is perfectly suited to deep piping well purposes.

There are two major methods of fitting piping systems together; these are solvent welding and mechanical coupling. Solvent welding is simple enough although care should be taken to carry out the task effectively to prevent any leaks. The pipe must be cut squarely, cleaned thoroughly, coated with solvent and then joined with the fitting piece. It should be remembered however that cuts are final, there is no way back should you cut the pipe too short. Mechanical coupling however is used with plastic pipes that cannot be welded with solvents. Normally it requires a simple click into place as the fittings have barbs and clamps that prevent leaking.

Working principle of a Boiler

Every household in the United Kingdom has a central heating boiler in their houses. But anyone of you has ever thought how does a central heating boiler work. Today I am going to explain how exactly the central heating system (boiler) works.

The water stored in the vessel when heated to a desired temperature level by burning natural gases, coal and wood pellets can be defined as a boiler. The steam produced by the boiler when heated is piped to a spot which can be is utilized for different purposes such has running the production units, sanitizing some area, sterilizing equipments, to warm up the surroundings, to heat up the water, and many more.

After the burners are heated up using the required fuels, then the gases or the fire from the burners are directly released on the boiler to heat up the water. The water can be boiled in the boiler depending on the two types of boilers used in the market.

There are generally two types of boilers which use their own principles to produce heat.

Common causes for acidic water are acid rainfall due to atmospheric carbon dioxide and other airborne pollutants, runoff from mining spoils, and decomposition of plant materials. Acidic waters can be of good quality and are typically low in buffering calcium minerals, but are high in dissolved carbon-dioxide gas, which can cause the low pH or acidity.

Neutralizer filter tanks contain a small amount of filter gravel in the bottom of the tank and are filled to two-thirds full with a blend of calcium and magnesium carbonates made from naturally occurring minerals. These minerals dissolve into the water, making it less corrosive. More mineral can quickly and easily be added to the filter tank, typically once per year for most residential applications. No special tools are required.

The neutralizer filter should be installed after the pressure tank but before any copper piping in the house. If the pressure tank, check valve and pressure switch are installed with copper piping the copper piping should be replaced with PVC or stainless steel pipes up to the inlet of neutralizer filter. It is OK to have copper pipes installed on the outlet of neutralizer filter since the water is neutralized at this point and the pipe will be protected.

Uses And Benefits of Carbon Steel

All types of steel contain carbon but carbon steel has more carbon content. It also includes manganese and iron. It is considered to be one of the most widely used steel metals. It has many uses and advantages compared to other types of metals. It is also known as wrought steel and it can be formed into any shape. It is quite malleable and therefore it can be made into desired shapes. It is poured into blocks that are rolled to form desired shapes.

Carbon steel is categorized into three types which include low or mild steel, medium steel and high carbon content. The low alloy is easy to form and shape as it includes low level of carbon. Medium carbon steel is mainly used to make shafts, couplings and axles.
Another notable variety of steel includes the ultra high steel metal which is very tensile and strong. It is mainly used to manufacture knives and axles.

All these types of steel metals are used to manufacture various types of industrial tools and machines. It is also used to manufacture drilling bits as it is strong and tensile. It is even used to manufacture cutting tools and nails. High steel is mainly used to manufacture drill bits, knives and cutting tools as it is strong and versatile.

In addition to this constituent, many other elements such as manganese, chromium and tungsten are used as hardening agents. The properties of steel can be determined by the proportion of these elements.

Stainless steel which contains high level of this alloy is known to be rust proof and strong. Although this type of steel is inclusive of various benefits, it includes certain disadvantages. It is known to be brittle and therefore it can seldom be used for constructing building and bridges. Steel with low level of the main alloy can be used for various purposes as it is less brittle and stronger.

Nevertheless, it is used for manufacturing steel pipes as it tends to remain intact. It is also known to be durable and resistant. As it is anti-corrosive, it can be used for under water purposes. It has the ability to withstand high pressure and therefore it is used for various industrial purposes.
